Northwest Major 3 Final Day

Final Day

The night before I asked the staff about the start time for SSF4AE top 8, and the answer was 5:00pm. Gootecks wanted to go to the fish market for some seafood so we all tagged alone since we wanted to do some sightseeing as well.

Once we arrived, I was like………….MAN, I’ve been here when I was a kid! All the flashbacks and shit…I was excited! LOL. We went in to the market, and of course got some fresh oysters that came with a very delicious seafood soup. After hanging at the market for around 30 mins, since Gootecks is out of the competition, he and Kevin decided to hang around for a bit more. On the other hand, it was around 3:30pm and we didn’t really have a meal yet, so we split up because we have two cars anyways…..it was Xian, Kaygee, Justin, Terence and I, we went to this Japanese restaurant near the fish market…man..food wasn’t BAD..but it wasn’t great. We expected much more since it’s near the fish market.

We ate, and then right away drove to the venue and when we arrived, BlazBlue top 8 was still happening…but thanks to that it gave me some time to warm up before top 8. It wasn’t long for top 8 to start and first match was Xian (Gen) vs Me (Ryu). During the weekend staying at Kevin’s, Xian and I avoided playing each other’s main because we do know that we are each other’s threat in the tournament. I know the match up fairly well because I play with my friend “Sampson (aka SCHOWT) in the tournament” who is from my local scene. He also helped me with the guide in my blog; therefore I wasn’t too worried against Xian. I end up losing 1-2 to Xian, he made a comeback in his match point when I was expecting him to do the “regular” Gen mix ups, he did the opposite because he said he knew that I know about Gen’s mix up. Good games, very strong Gen, got sent to losers.

Next I had to play “Bokkin” a Yun/Cammy player. Both are my strong match ups, so I didn’t have much difficulty beating him. Right after that I had to play a strong Bison “Happy Medicine” and winner fights in losers final against Xian. First set last round I was waiting for an ex headstomp when I was in the corner, it finally came…but I failed to forward dash and got hit by it -_-. Second set I won easily and last set last round I got destroyed. I was quite unhappy about that failed forward dash in the first set, guess it didn’t want to come out L. As a result I placed 4th in this major and still got paid.

Xian also lost to Happy Medicine placing third, but we couldn’t leave yet while Xian has to stay and play MVC3 top 8. I was rooting for both CCG|Detrimantix and Xian, but they both didn’t perform too well during top 8, but was still proud of them making top 8 at a major.

My friend Ahmed wanted to stay and watch the whole thing before we go get food, so we stayed with him. Congratz to Fchamp winning both SF and MVC3, very god like performance throughout the whole weekend.

Once again, we went to HK Bistro at the International Distrct (this time didn’t bump into any weirdo). We had great talk at the restaurant and after we ate we head back to Kevin’s place to pack our stuff and drove back to Vancouver.

Very fun trip/event, nice meeting all of you there and hope to see you guys again someday, somewhere.
